and this one...

I've been making it a practice for over a year now to take time to find and enjoy the small pleasures that each day offers, and as you know, practice makes perfect. Honestly, I believe that this idea has completely changed the way I see life. Today, I took my lunch out of the house and enjoyed it on the bench swing in the front yard. Caleb made it clear that he didn't want to be in the baby swing; he wanted to sit (well, stand - remember we're talking about Caleb here) right beside me on the big swing - and share my lunch, of course. As I sat there, feeding him tiny mouthfuls of sauteed peppers and cherry tomatoes mixed with angel hair, I let my eyes linger on the curve of his toes, the chubby legs, the line of his profile, the length of his lashes, the flashing dimple, his brand-new little baby teeth... And then I took the time to linger over Rebekah swinging nearby and Sarah, Matthew, Bethany, Kristina, Kimmy... they all played around me and I soaked them in one at a time, delighting in the way they look, the way they talk, the way they laugh -- each one beautiful and quirky, each one mine, and I hoped I would always remember these days...

Check out that shoulder dimple. She's still got 'em. Kissing targets if I ever saw one. Delicious...
Enjoy your children today.

So true -- I find myself doing more of what you described lately. Trying to "soak up" my children and savor memories being made. Thanks for your post!
