* Sarah's knee is improving every day. She ended up taking the full ten days of antibiotic and finally began to show improvement on the tenth day. The fluid is going down and she is walking straighter. Thank you to those of you who have prayed for her. * I took Matthew in to get his ears/hearing tested yesterday. I've worried about him for some time because not only does he live most of his life in his only little world, but he was slow to talk and still does not speak clearly or with correct grammar. Well, his hearing is just perfect! (Now, we'll work on his ignoring people.) The doctor told me to just give him time - he's not quite four - and sent me on my way without charging me. Nice man.
* I had a follow-up visit with the dermatologist yesterday. I was finally able to get a clear explanation of what each of my ointments is for, and I found that the problem with my toe and finger is not fungal afterall, but apparently a type of excema. At least I can treat it correctly now and hopefully get rid of it.
* Just when I thought the stomach bug was gone, Kristina came down with it. She has a very sensitive stomach; she always seems to catch the stomach bugs and always has them the worst. She broke her record yesterday by vomiting 26 times in about a 12-hour period. We told her she's welcome to that record. Poor little girl. She was in agony. Thankfully, she's much more comfortable this morning and will hopefully recover quickly.
So, our birthday celebration with my dad has been postponed. Do you blame them? Looks like we'll be cleaning house and working on shower favors today. I was able to stop at JoAnn's and get the materials for our wedding dresses yesterday. I also stocked up at BJ's, a trip I've been meaning to make for several months now.
Oh, and one more exciting piece of news around here - the kittens' eyes opened yesterday! They're fattening up nicely. Mia is a wonderful mother. She still takes her outdoor breaks (for an occasional snack of chipmunk or bird - yuck!) and then returns in time for their next feeding. And, yes, Sandra's comment yesterday was correct. Almost all calico cats are female. Something to do with the X chromosomes. I did research it, but scientific facts hold no interest for me, so that should be a sufficient explanation. I had to research it. My original information came from the same source that taught me to say "I wed my garden," and you know how that went over. Sorry, Dad. Happy Birthday, anyway! :)

These pictures were taken last week while Chris and the big kids were at camp. He called to ask what we were doing and I told him we were heading outdoors for a picnic, so he suggested the garage.
"Oh, no," I told him. "Picnics are supposed to be out in the lawn with a quilt!"
"Ask your kids where they want to have it," he responded.
So we had our picnic in the garage on the newly poured cement floor. Of course.
And it was lots of fun.

Have you ever seen

Slices of french baguette with ham spread and leek cheese spread (sorry, no recipes - can't beat Wegman's deli!) along with strawberries and cookies... So yummy.
And then,
"Do you like my hat?"

"No, I do not like your hat!"
"Good-bye."
"Good-bye."
Have you read Dr. Seuss' "Go, Dogs, Go" lately? ;)
Enjoy your weekend!
Love,

5 comments...Thank you! I love to hear from you!:
Poor Kristina! That is a record that will hopefully be unbroken!
I can relate to your hearing tests... have you ever read the book, "Strong Willed Child or Dreamer?"
The strawberries are truly gigantic! Are they your own?
Go, Dogs, Go is definately a favorite over here. Everytime someone has a hat on I get to hear that comment :)

Awww... sweet Kristina...26 times! That beats my worst morning sickness day...14 times. Stomach bugs are the pits...I'm so glad she feels better today.
I read Go Dogs Go yesterday to some of the children. Much easier read than Fox in Socks which I read also. :)
We have a couple of late talkers also. Nehemiah (2 1/2) sounds like a caveman but I know he hears fine and is super bright...he just lacks words and grunts. His grunts all have different sounds to them though :) Susannah started talking in perfect sentences her first year and still amazes me with what she comes up with. :)
I have your Christmas page picture up on our fridge and the other day, Beka was standing there staring at it.
I said, "I really like those pictures too."
She looked at me with a sheepish grin, pointed to Anthony and said, "I like his picture a lot. Is he in the military?"
That's Rebekah for you :)
I hope your daughter feels better soon! Being sick is rough. And my 4 year old loovveesss "go dog, go" it's a favorite in our house :)
I hope Kristina is feeling better today! Sending her my best wishes!
Happy Fourth!
